Customer Reviews for HK AXIS Tanto Folding Knife D2 Steel

Brand: Benchmade

The tanto Heckler & Koch AXIS Folding Knife boasts a strong D2 steel blade that is designed to pierce through tough materials. The ambidextrous design of the handle can be used by both right and left-handed users. Includes an AXIS lock system and reversible pocket clip.

Why choose this knife?

  • D2 steel blade has superior edge retention
  • G10 built handle is strong and lightweight
  • Textured grips and jimping for comfortable hand positions
  • AXIS locking mechanism for stable open
  • Dual thumb studs for ambidextrous use
  • Tip-up reversible pocket carry clip

Why not?

  • No assisted opening
  • Difficult to sharpen the D2 steel

Next level knife: Benchmade Amicus AXIS Assisted Flipper Knife

Pro Tip:
A thumb stud is a nub on the side of the blade used to aid in flipping the knife open. It is one of the most common operations used to open a knife due to its ease of use. The only downfall is making sure your thumb is protected since it's so close to the opening blade.

Some Problems
Date posted:
OVERALL:

Came out of the box with side to side blade play. Tightened the pivot to reduce blade play but now the action is about as smooth as 50 grit sandpaper. Maybe needs some lubrication but I'm pretty sure disassembly would void my warranty so I guess mine lacked some qc. Pivot also keeps loosening itself after a few flicks, probably should put some blue loctite on the pivot screw.
