It is strong, durable and long lasting as it is made of knurled anodized aluminum. It is in color and it is self contained. The Aurora fire starter is provided with a cylinder which has built in 440C stainless steel blade. The blade is placed on the outside base. It is struck to ¼” thick Ferro magnesium rod. The rod and the cylinder screw together. They both meet at the O ring. The rod is well protected from corrosion as the O ring creates a water proof seal.
